Whether you work at home or have an industrial space, you need a proper work surface and adequate space to store your products, supplies and baskets.
| A Few Suggestions to Get You Started: |
-
Your work surface should be kitchen counter height to avoid back pain and tiredness. If you are using folding tables, get them elevated. Be resourceful and contact a kitchen-remodeling firm. You might get an old counter complete with drawers and storage space. The height of your work station is important.
-
Invest in metal storage units that can be anchored to your wall, or use inexpensive shelving (at least 12 inches deep).
-
A utility tote with a handle can hold your scissors, tape, business cards, twist ties etc. Set up pegboard on the wall to hold the tote. Once set up with your small tools, use a marker to outline each item so you know where everything should be.
-
Baskets are the most space consuming and difficult items to store. Using a ceiling hook, hang a few feet of chain, then use 'S' hooks to hang your baskets with handles. They are up out of the way, and easily accessible. A large quantity of the same basket can be placed in clear garbage bags, and hung on a hook or chain from the ceiling.
-
Invest in plastic boxes, preferably see though, to keep everything sorted. They are available in all sizes. Watch for sales.
